“ SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show is a Japanese pop culture convention that is devoted to artists, creators and fans alike.Yes! SMASH is back again and with an awesome line up of guests!
The primary focus is to allow fans to meet and interact with other like-minded people, show off creative talents, buy anime and manga-related goods and celebrate their fandom in a social environment. SMASH! encourages all forms of anime fandom through a variety of activities such as cosplay, panels, games, and other special popular culture events.
SMASH! is run by SMASH Inc, a non-profit organisation created by fans for fans which aims to create an open and affordable avenue that serves as a meeting point for fans and encourages art, creativity and community involvement. “
“ SMASH! has always been dedicated to bringing top international talent to Sydney, and this year is no exception, with a strong line-up of internationally-renowned guests. In addition to Japanese voice actresses Yuko Miyamura (Evangelion, Berserk and Outlaw Star) and Sakura Tange (Cardcaptor Sakura, Dead or Alive), SMASH! welcomes prolific voice actor Shin-ichiro Miki (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Bleach, Gundam 00, and Initial D) in his first ever international appearance. ”

Not only does SMASH! boast a line of Japanese guests to wow the fans, the event schedule is also filled to the brim with something for everyone! If you are an Artist, there’s 3 competition for you to take part in! If you’re a Cosplayer there’s the Cosplay Competition, Cosplay Chess, Photobooth and Cosplay Panels to look out for. If you’re a Gundam builder, there’s the Gunpla Builders Cup ! There’s something for almost every facet of the fandom!
